Class 1 Girls Basketball Districts at Linn County February 25, 2008

Linn County, Novinger, LaPlata, and Green City teams advance.

The Brashear Lady Tigers faced Novinger Monday night in 1st round district action. Brashear used an 8-point 1st quarter by Senior Hailee Kelsey to jump out to a 10-7 lead, but Novinger limited the Lady Tigers to a pair of free throws during the 2nd quarter to turn the game around taking a 21-12 lead into the locker room. Novinger extended their lead to 32-31 after 3 quarters before Brashear mounted a 4th quarter rally that fell short giving Novinger the 38-31 win. Hailee Kelsey led all scorers with 14 points for Brashear. Jessi Hill chipped in 9, Emily Ladwig had 6, and Stephanie Elsea scored 2 points. Novinger was led by Katelyn Brawner with 15 points, Katie Moore added 11, Kelsey Potter had 6, Trisha Potter had 4, and Sydney White scored 2 points.

In other 1st round girls action, Linn County cruised past Macon County 92-28, LaPlata downed Bucklin 47-18, and Green City defeated Atlanta 73-31. Girls 2nd round action will resume Thursday.
